Softonic’s App of the Week highlights some of the coolest, most unique, and most interesting mobile apps for iOS and Android. Yesterday, Dropbox released Carousel, an app for iOS and Android that helps you manage, view, and share photos stored in Dropbox.

For people like me, who pretty much exclusively take photos with mobile phones, Carousel is a great way to backup photos and share them with friends, without decreasing the quality of images. Carousel works best with other Carousel users, who’ll be able to save images you share with them to their own Dropbox folder. Aside from sharing images, the app works like a timeline, syncing the photos from your phone and Dropbox chronologically so that you can see them all in one place, like a photo album.

The app, however, doesn’t come without a few drawbacks. While you can share images with non-Carousel users via email or text, they’ll only be able to see the image as a link. Another drawback? It’s mandatory to back up all of your camera photos in Dropbox to use Carousel, which could eat up your 2GB of free space quickly, depending on how many photos you have.

Still, Dropbox is a popular service with a lot of users, and if your friends and family use it to share photos, the Carousel app is the perfect addition to your mobile device. You can our full review and download the app below.
