The suspense is over. Blizzard finally announced that it was currently working on a sequel to one of its most popular hits, Starcraft. It’s unknown when the second version of the famous real-time strategy game will be released but at least Blizzard has let users know that it will be available both for Windows and Mac. The story will follow the same line as before and you will be able to choose from the main three races of the first Starcraft, even though new units will be available. Here is the synopsis of the second version:
StarCraft II continues the epic saga of the Protoss, Terran, and Zerg. These three distinct and powerful races will clash once again in the fast-paced real-time strategy sequel to the legendary original, StarCraft. Legions of veteran, upgraded, and brand-new unit types will do battle across the galaxy, as each faction struggles for survival.
Starcraft 2 is not a massive multiplayer online role playing game, but you’ll still be able to carry out epic battles with your buddies on the Battle.net online gaming service. Expansions like the ones you can get with World of Warcraft are not expected for the moment. The game will also add extra customizing tools to create your own maps and tweak your own game experience. However, what really got us going were the graphics, based on a completely new 3D engine. Check out the cinematic trailer, impressive as anything you’d expect from Blizzard:
