In this video in our series dedicated to learning more about iOS 7, we present the new Maps app.

The new Maps app in iOS 7, in addition to its minimal design that makes navigating more fun, is easier to use than ever before.

Discovering iOS 7: The Maps app

Default player

brightcove.createExperiences();

The first function located on the bottom tool bar is the location finder, which shows you where you are on the map. There is a search field at the top where you can enter addresses, names of commercial locations, or notable landmarks. If the search result is a restaurant, for example, you can access information about that venue, including user reviews and photos, by simply clicking on it. You can also save it as a bookmark.

You can get driving directions that will show you how to get to that location by tapping ‘Directions to here‘. If you want to get somewhere else from there, tap ‘Directions from here’ and then tap ‘Route’. You can also get directions by typing the address in the search bar and tapping the arrow to its left.

The next function in the bottom tool bar is used to share a place via text message, email, Twitter, or Facebook. You can also add the location to your bookmarks.

The last function lets you switch between three different map displays: standard, satellite or hybrid. This view is very detailed, especially in urban areas, with fluid graphics. If you own an iPhone 5, you also have the option of 3D visualization.

Finally, to access your bookmarks, click on the agenda to the right of the search bar.
