Having already negotiated five continents, I’m getting pretty tired as I near the end of my Google Earth world tour. So what better place to arrive at than the middle of the sweltering desert in Egypt? Actually, I can think of several. Anyway, at least I got to see these interesting pyramids made of bricks and a funny looking lion with a human face.
After leaving these ancient wonders behind, I hit Algeria where they tell me they have the world’s largest plasma TV. However, at 4,975″ the Samsung screen has collapsed on its back, so I can’t watch the latest episode of Family Guy. So I decide to make my excuses and flee to Libya to check out this beautiful ancient Roman city in Tripoli.
As I headed South, I flew over a man taking a leak in Mali before landing in South Africa, where I gawped in awe at the impressive Voortrekker Monument, which was designed in honour of the pioneers who left the Cape Colony between 1835 and 1854. After heading North again I’m finally feeling at home. That’s because I’m on James Island in Gambia. I might just claim it as mine and stay here forever.
