If you’re a member of any Internet forum, you’ve probably seen those slick thin bars that some people use as signatures. They’re a colorful way to customize your posts while maintaining the forum’s readability. Would you like to create for yourself one and use it on your favorite forum? Just follow these easy steps:
1. Open a new rectangle-shaped document. Mine is 25×300 pixels.
2. Fill it with the Gradient tool, using two colors that match the logo you plan to use. In this case, I’ll be using Firefox’s logo so I pick up two shades of orange.
3. Now we have to fill in this layer with a pattern, but first we must create the pattern itself. Open a new document, this time 6×6 pixels in size and with transparent background. Use the Pencil tool to make a black line like this one:
4. Save this image as pattern by clicking on the Edit > Define pattern menu. Call it whatever you like.
5. Now we’re ready to use the pattern we just created. Select the gradient layer and apply a Pattern Overlay. Turn down opacity to make it look better.
6. Open the image of the logo you want to use and paste it on a new layer. Resize it to make it fit onto your signature.
7. Now it’s time to write your message. You can use any text font you like, but most people use Visitor BRK which you can download from Dafont. Use white for the text and then apply a Stroke to the text layer.
8. Finally the last step: select the Ellipse tool, make sure the “Fill pixels” option is checked and create an ellipse over your signature so that its bottom part covers it slightly. Reduce the opacity to obtain a glossy effect.
9. There you go! You can create as many as you want by simply changing the logo and the gradient colors.
