System PreferencesUninstalling programs on Macs is probably the easiest method of all. Simply drag the program’s icon to your trash bin on the Dock and you’re done with it. And if you’re extra tidy you can even get rid of the program folder in Library>Application Support. Removing items in your System Preferences is not as obvious but just as easy.

First some of you may ask, what are the System Preferences on my Mac? You access them from the drop down menu you get when clicking on the blue Apple icon on the top left of your menu bar. System Preferences are a central part of your Mac because its where you set everything from wallpaper to internet connection or accessibility options. You can also install third party items to customize your Mac. To set these up all you have to do is double click on the newly downloaded items. They should then appear at the bottom of your System Preferences window. To uninstall them, simply right click (or CTRL+click) and select “remove”. Easy as that.

If you’re having trouble getting rid of a third party app you can also look for it in Library> PreferencesPane. Trashing the file will get rid of all instances of it on your Mac.
