Facebook is once again shifting gears with the arrival of Paper, a news reader that presents a major makeover for the social network. The app transforms your news feed into a stylish digital magazine where your friends’ status updates are combined with articles handpicked from the internet by the folks at Facebook.

But how are Mark Zuckerberg’s people planning to use it to revolutionize how we read the news? We’ve tested the app, and the video below shows you some of its coolest features.

Not only is Paper the newest addition to Facebook’s collection of mobile apps, it’s also a total reinvention of it’s mobile interface. Boasting some similarities toFlipboard in terms of animation fluidity and gesture support, the app reinvents Facebook and gives a big hint as to where the social network could be heading in the near future.

Right now, Paper is available exclusively for iPhone, and only in the US. If you don’t have the patience to wait for Paper to arrive in your app store, try out some of the alternatives already available for iOS, Android, Windows Phone and BlackBerry, or trying accessing the US App Store to get the app on your iPhone.

Do you think Paper is good enough to completely replace Facebook’s classic mobile interface?
