The eagerly awaited Mac App Store is finally here. With more than 1,000 free and paid apps, the Mac App Store’s release makes downloading apps for your Mac computer incredibly easy and convenient. Once installed, the program becomes a regular feature on your Mac’s dock that can be accessed easily. You can even make purchases simply by using the information on your iTunes account.
The Mac App Store offers apps in categories such as Education, Games, Graphics & Design, Lifestyle, Productivity, and Utilities. Many of the most popular apps we all already know and love are available through the Mac App Store, as well as new apps developed specifically for its grand opening. Much like Apple’s already popular iOS Store, top charts for paid and free apps are listed on the right-hand side of the store’s screen. Users are also able to rate and review the apps they’ve downloaded, offering an additional enhancement to the overall app browsing experience.
To get the Mac App Store, Snow Leopard users can download the Mac OS X v10.6.6 Software Update or visit Apple’s website directly. Note that the update requires a restart, so make sure to save your work before proceeding.
