Ubisoft has released a new long video about naval combat and exploration in Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag.

In the trailer we learn how massive the game world is. With over 50 locations, including dense cities, oceans and islands, it looks like there is a lot to explore. We see Edward loot a dead sailor, and find a treasure map. This triggers a journey across the seas in your ship, the Jackdaw. There are naval battles, and dangerous sea storms that look really dramatic.

When Edward arrives at the island on the treasure map, the trailer shows how you can choose to get around using stealth, or brute force. The world is richly detailed, with plenty of animal life, some of which will be dangerous.

Naval battles look exciting, and you’ll see the Jackdaw take on a British frigate to plunder its cargo. Almost all ships in the game are board-able – you can damage ships enough to sink them, but then you’ll lose any loot there might be. There are multiple ways to board a ship – you can take out the enemy crew from afar, swing on board and fight at close quarters, or stealthily navigate your way in to take out the ship’s captain by surprise.

Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag is released on October 29th.
