Valentine’s Day is around the corner again, so you better start thinking about heart-shaped greeting cards, flowers, teddy bears and other treats with which to surprise your significant one. But if you’ve already run out of ideas, don’t worry: you can always design your own personal Valentine’s card with Animoto, an online tool to create photo slideshows. It may not be the perfect replacement for a belated Valentine’s gift, but at least it’s something done by you!

Creating a Valentine’s card in Animoto is really easy. After you’ve created a user account on the site (which is free and hardly takes 10 seconds), click on the “Create new video” button and select the 30-second short clip. Then you can start uploading images for your video, either from your own computer or from another website. Around twelve images will be enough for a 30-second video.

Now it’s time to select the music. You can choose between uploading an MP3 file from your computer or select from the music catalog offered by Animoto. I’d go for the latter, because it’s the safest way to avoid copyright issues if you plan to publish the video anywhere else. But the choice is really up to you.

Finally, you can add a title and a description for the video, and then it’s time to wait until the website processes and renders the final clip. Once it’s done, click on the heart icon on the bottom right corner and your video will automatically be transformed into a Valentine’s card that you can send to your loved one right away.

You can also embed the video on your personal website, blog or social network profile, export it to YouTube, download it to your hard drive and more. Want to see mine?
