Customize the “Send to” menu

Customize the “Send to” menuThe right-click context menu usually hides little treasures, that is, shortcuts to basic tasks and frequently used tools that you may not be aware of. One of these underrated right-click options is the Send to menu, which enables you to send the selected file to another folder, open it with a certain app or send it by email straight away.

But the Send to menu is not limited to the options featured in Windows by default. You can easily personalize this menu and adapt it to your needs by adding and deleting shortcuts at will – and all this, without having to install any third-party app.

Before customizing the Send to menu, you need to make sure that hidden folders are visible on your system. Simply go to Tools > Folder options on any File Explorer window, click on the View tab and select the “Show hidden files and folders” option.

Now you’re ready to customize your Send to menu. The contents of this menu are stored in C:\Documents and Settings\your_username, so all you have to do is open this folder (obviously replacing the “your_username” bit with your own username) and tweak its contents any way you like, just like you do with any other regular folder in Windows.

Any changes you make will immediately take effect on the Send to menu. Feel free to remove shortcuts you don’t use and add new ones that make your daily workflow more comfortable. This is how my Send to menu looks like after adding my most frequently used folders.
