ea logoLast month, Disney announced that it shut down the game development studio, LucasArts. Disney purchased Lucas Film for $4 billion last year in October, which included LucasArts. Now the company has signed an exclusive deal with Electronic Arts to publish games developed by DICE (Battlefield), Visceral Games (Dead Space), and Bioware (Mass Effect). The deal spans games from “multiple genres” on consoles, PCs, mobile, and tablets.

In a press release, EA Labels Present Frank Gibeau said that “Every developer dreams of creating games for the Star Wars universe.” He goes on to say that “The new experiences we create may borrow from films, but the games will be entirely original with all new stories and gameplay.” Bioware is currently already developing  Star Wars: The Old Republic, released back in December 2011.
