Photos on Facebook for iOS and Android have got a facelift. Instead of the old grid view, you’ll now see a collage with your most popular pictures enlarged.

Facebook has been testing this new design, and claims it makes users browse and like photos more. You might, therefore, get more likes in the future just because of this. A popular photo, as decided by Facebook’s algorithms, will appear six times larger than others. There’s no manual control, so any embarrassing photos of you that got lots of likes may be highlighted, and there’s nothing you can do about it.

The feature isn’t consistently applied – enter an album and you’ll get the simple grid view with no highlights. It’s just the ‘Photos of You’ and ‘Uploads’ that get the new format. Even though you have no control over it, the new view is more attractive, and makes browsing photos a more pleasant experience.
