Google has announced a complete new look for Google Reader in order to encourage users to share content on Google+.

In particular, the sharing features in Reader will be removed in order to encourage users to share content only on Google+. The sharing features will be moved to Google+, so that friending, following and shared blog links inside of Reader will be removed as part of the revamp.

The good news is that Google will enable users to export subscriptions, shared items, friends, likes and starred items from Reader into Google+. No launch date has been set for the changes but Google Software Engineer Alan Green claims they will be launched “very soon”.

If you’re not a Google+ user then this decision won’t be very popular but if you are curious as to what Google+ is all about, don’t forget to check out our full review.
