Thankfully you can easily extract all of the images from Tumblr blogs with TumblRipper. We’ll show how to use this app and preserve your picture collection.

Once TumblRipper is extracted run the app. The app is from an unknown publisher and your OS or antivirus program may flag it as dangerous. This warning appears because the designer, Zark, is not a mainstream publisher.

Choose output folder

When you open TumblRipper you will be presented with two dialogue boxes: one for where you wish to save your images, and the other for the Tumblr URL. First you will need to select which directory you will want to save the Tumblr images to.

Find Tumblr

Now head over to Tumblr and copy the blog URL. It is usually [blog name].tumblr.com, but there can be exceptions such as with paid registered blogs.

TumblRipper scanning

In the second box, paste in the Tumblr address and hit the load button. TumblRipper will start to scan the directory.

New images

If this is your first time ripping a particular Tumblr the app will extract and save all images. The speed of this process depends on the amount and size of your images.

Completed job

When you rip a Tumblr again, TumblRipper will check for only the latest images that are not in your destination folder. This way you will never have to worry about duplicates in a folder. This image check is saved as a log file. If you ever move the images be sure to copy this log file or TumblRipper may re-download old files.

TumblRipper can easily save a Tumblr without searching every post. The program is simple to use: all you need is the Tumblr’s URL and a destination folder. TumblRipper will do the rest of the work for you. The time this takes to complete depends on the amount of posts, but you’ll have an archive of pictures without much effort.
