On Monday, Apple will release an update to iOS 8 that will bring Apple Pay and OS X Yosemite features. iOS 8.1 will mark the official launch of Apple’s digital payment system, Apple Pay.
Apple has recruited an impressive number of retailers to support Apple Pay. Over 500 US banks are supported and major retailers like Starbucks, Macy’s, McDonalds and Target will support Apple Pay starting Monday.
Most major credit and debit card companies are supported, including American Express, Bank of America, CapitalOne, Chase, Citi, MasterCard, Visa and Wells Fargo.
To use Apple Pay, you’ll need to have either the iPhone 6 or 6 Plus. These are the only iPhones with near field communication (NFC) chips in them required to use Apple Pay.
