Thanksgiving’s software side

Thanksgiving and SoftwareBelieve it or not, it’s that time of the year again. Thanksgiving is just around the corner and nearly everyone is preparing for one of the most important – and calorie-loaded – meals of the year. But Thanksgiving means more than just sitting around a table and gobbling up your share of turkey; it’s also a day to spend with your loved ones, a kind of warm-up for the Holiday celebrations that are only a month away.

So when you arrive home, be ready to go through the ritual of greetings, introductions and updates with your relatives while waiting for the food to be ready. Your mom and dad will be in the kitchen working hard, after having used Recipe Cookbook or RecipeMaster to look for some tasty recipes, plus Grocery List Generator to print their list before the trip to the mall. They’ll have probably checked some cooking-themed websites as well, such as Familyoven or Startcooking, which has a special article with tips on how to cook a Thanksgiving turkey.

Unfortunately most parents are not that computer savvy. In fact, I’m sure they’ll take advantage of your visit and ask you to fix those strange pop-ups that appear all over the desktop every time they launch Windows. So when packing for Thanksgiving, don’t forget to take a USB pendrive with some basic rescue tools: Spyware Search & Destroy to kill any nasty creatures, Defraggler to perform a full drive defragmentation, Shock Startup to optimize Windows startup time or simply the great Glary Utilities to make a complete PC check-up. Once you’re done, don’t forget to add a sweet Thanksgiving touch to your parents’ computer!
