Recover hidden passwordsYou probably use a dozen passwords a day, each one for a different purpose: checking email, writing a post for your blog or logging in as registered user for any online service. All these passwords are usually hidden under a line of asterisks to remain safe even if somebody is looking at your screen. But what happens when you forget any of them?

Well, unless you can retrieve that password in some way, you’re doomed… or maybe not. There’s one last chance to recover that lost password and it’s called Asterisk Key. This simple utility scans your system and displays any password found on an opened webpage or web dialog box, even if it’s hidden under asterisks.

The only downside to this application is that it only works with Internet Explorer. However, Firefox users also have their own trick to recover suddenly forgotten passwords. Go to Tools – Options – Security – Show passwords and you’ll be able to see all the passwords you’ve saved in your web browser.
